Yep, we’re 31 hours & 425ish miles in. Gavin and I loaded up the car, picked up Addy at horse camp and drove off at 3p yesterday (Friday) afternoon. Our first stop was in Alachua in N. Florida at our friends, Kevin and Maii’s, new home. They made us a wonderful dinner with ingredients fresh from their garden and we sat sipping wine on the front porch watching their kitties, Mikey and Haywood, frolic in the wildflowers and tall grass, listening to the crickets sing. It was a beautiful start to our two-month journey.
Today, we got on the road around 11a for our drive to Abbeville, AL. I decided to take backroads to Valdosta, where we stopped to eat at The Bleu Cafe` for lunch. Then we continued on through Thomasville and Camilla, GA arriving in Abbeville around 4:15 Central Time. This is were the lake house of Gavin’s 2nd grade teacher is and it’s so serene here, I do love lakes:-). Surrounded by pine trees, Lake Eufaula is the border between GA & AL. We grabbed some drinks and headed to the dock sit, chat and watch the pups Fiona (Fi Fi) & Ruby play in the water. Addy also dug up shells and played fetch with Ruby. Tomorrow there are plans to take a canoe out, walk a bit and just breathe in the lake air. Nice huh?
Here are some images so far, enjoy:-).
Peace!
