Preikestolen (Pulpit Rock) Norway, summer 2013

I can’t believe it, after talking about this move for over four years, Michael’s last day of work is this Friday! He decided we needed a family cruise to celebrate prior to us heading to Italy and the road trip across country, so we leave this Saturday morning for a 5-nighter to get things going.  Then my father comes to visit for a week and we’re off to Italy for a month. Much of my time lately has been spent either with the kids on our un-schooling adventures, getting the house ready for us to be gone for many months or planning our time in Italy and on the road. I think I’m still in some denial that our paychecks cease very soon and I’m trying my darndest to pull the budgeting thing together. I know we won’t have a choice soon and feel that’s when it’ll become simple because the money simply won’t be there like it was.  This excites me and scares the poo out of me too. But I’m so thankful for all that’s to come, the sacrifices we’re making will be returned ten-fold. This time with family to travel while the kids are young is priceless!

This new adventure we’re so close to embarking on has made me reflect back to our adventures already taken and how lucky we are to have had these amazing opportunities. The kids will be 11 & 13 this summer and they’ve already done so much, seen so many things, met so many people. Their lives are rich and full of possibility and I love the choices we’ve made, to unschool, to travel, to find our tribe of like-minded souls, to continue on this journey together. It’s a beautiful thing. We only have this one short lifetime and too often we let things get in the way of making it great. We don’t know exactly what’s on the other side of the road trip. We’re only planned through September, but I do know that everything is going to work out, I have no question and that’ what makes this possible, we’re not letting our fears stop us from taking this leap. Michael just resigned from a 25+ year career, many would see that as stupid & irresponsible, I find it brilliant, brave and fearless!  I’m thrilled to be sharing this life with him and our kids and can’t wait to make it GREAT!

Peace!
