Sahara Desert

We begin our journey in Marrakesh. This colorful, vibrant city offers beautiful mosques, enchanting palaces, and thriving marketplaces known as souks to explore, and enrich your soul. We’ll stay in a traditional Moroccan house known as a riad and dine on rooftops. From here we’ll make our way to the Sahara desert… Glamping in a Luxury Nomad-style camp, and then back again, slowly over five nights exploring towns, and landscapes around the High Atlas Mountains. We’ll hike, have tea with a nomad family, take a cooking class with a local family, explore UNESCO World Heritage sites, eat authentic Moroccan cuisine, and more!

Pricing & Payment

Total Price: $2420 USD (based on double occupancy) Single Supplement is $1200 additional.

Payment Plan:

$500 (non-refundable down-payment to hold your spot) then monthly payments, based on how early you book.

How payments work?

It’s important that money doesn’t stand in the way of your desire to travel. With that in mind, payments are based on the number of months remaining until we depart for the trip… simply divide the cost – after deposit – by the number of months left until departure.

Final Payment Due March 1st, 2020.

Sample Itinerary

Day One (28th): Arrival, the Beginning

Hello Beautiful! Today you’ll be landing at the Marrakech or Casablanca airport and transported to our Riad in Marrakech. You’ll have time to get un-packed, and freshened up from your travel day before gathering for dinner together. This evening allows us to get to know each other in preparation for our time together in Morocco.

(A Riad is the Moroccan traditional house, normally with two or more stories around an Andalusian-style courtyard.)

Day Two (29th) Marrakech – Telouet – Ait Benhaddou

This morning we will enjoy breakfast at our riad. Afterwards, we’ll be transported across the High Atlas Mountains stopping to admire beautiful vistas. Our destination is the Unesco World Heritage site Ait Benhaddou. Along the journey we will go on a walking tour of Palais Glaoui, an 18th Century palace in the Berber village of Telouet. The palace is known for it’s state of disrepair and magnificent tile work. Continuing along the Ounila Valley to the Kasbahs of Tamaedakht to explore the Ksar before arriving at our guest house for the evening.

Day Three (30th) Ait Benhaddou – Sahara

Today we depart our riad, making our way to the Sahara desert. Heading south to Tazenakht, a Berber town popular for rugs. Then continue to Foum Zguid for lunch before off-roading to reach our destination, the Sahara Desert. Time for a sunset 4×4 or optional camel ride and then we can wander the dunes after checking into our nomadic-style Luxury Camp.

Day Four (31st) Sahara – Dades Gorges

You won’t want to miss the sunrise this morning over the Sahara. Wake up call around 5:30!! Worth every minute of missed sleep! Afterwards breakfast is served, and then we depart for our 4.5 hour drive to Dades Gorges.

Day Five (1st) Dades Gorges

We spend the day in Dades Gorges beginning with a traditional Moroccan breakfast on the terrace overlooking the beautiful Central Atlas Mountains. After breakfast we’re going hiking with a local guide through the canyon… Monkey Fingers! We’ll arrive back in time to freshen up and enjoy an authentic Moroccan cooking class with the host family of our guesthouse.

Day Six (2nd) Dades Gorges – Ouarzazate

We leave Dades Gorges this morning after breakfast. Our destination today is Ouarzazate. Along the way we will go off-roading to have tea with a nomad family, stop in Skoura, one of Morocco’s beautiful Oases, and visit the Valley of Roses.

Day Seven (3rd) Ouarzazate – Marrakesh

Breakfast before beginning our journey back to Marrakesh. Along our way we will stop in Fint Oasis, a hidden oasis surrounded by volcanic rock. There will be a tea break, and we’ll make a stop for lunch… street food … Moroccan Bar-B-Q before arriving at our riad in Marrakesh. Tonight we can explore Jemaa-El-Fna, Marrakesh’s famous square. We can sit together, or split up and explore the abundance of food stalls.

Day Eight (4th) Full Day/ Night in Marrakesh

Today we explore Marrakesh… A guided tour of the Medina, we can shop at the souks, eat, and marvel at the wonders of the Red City. We’ll see the beautiful Jardin Marjorelle, and visit Bahia Palace. Tonight, our farewell dinner will take place either on the rooftop of our riad or at a specially chosen restaurant in the medina.
