The location is brilliant, modern style and amenities, wifi, rooftop bar…. The rooms are small, but truly offer the necessities and then some. We will be two to a room, bunk beds. I recently stayed here for four nights with my teen daughter, the beds are comfortable. Each bunk has a private TV, book light, and USB charging station. There is an in-room, bathroom with toiletries, and hair dryer provided. Please see images below for more details.
Sample Itinerary
Day One (7th) Arrival Day:
You will arrive at the airport and make your way to our hotel in Brooklyn. Time to get un-packed, and freshened up from your travel day before gathering for dinner. I welcome you tonight with dinner, on me! We will enjoy our meal, family style, before walking to the William Vale hotel, rising to the 22nd floor to toast the Manhattan skyline as the sun goes down.
Day Two (8th)
A slow, free morning. We will venture out at 10:30. We will meet Liz Norment of Brooklyn I’m Trying at 11:00 at Domino Park to begin our three hour, Italian history & food walking tour. We will have a slice of NY Pizza, sample gelato from a family dishing it out since the late 1800’s, and some amazing meatballs, trace the footsteps of Festa dei Gigli, and… more! We will end our tour with wine at the Wythe Hotel and then the remainder of the day is all YOURS!
I will have plenty of recommendations for how to use your free afternoon and evening in NYC.
Day Three (9th)
Put on your best walking shoes ladies, we’ll easily do 20,000 steps +! The day begins slow, we’ll begin our walk towards Artists & Fleas around 9:45. This is a community of makers, making this a great place to shop for unique, locally made souvenirs. We’ll head to the Smorgasburg at East River Park for lunch. This foodie gathering is right on the river, with views of Manhattan. There are over 100 carts to choose from so let’s NOM NOM NOM here for a bit before boarding the NYC Ferry. Destination is Brooklyn Bridge Park, one of my favorite places to sight see. We’ll be near the base of both the Brooklyn and Manhattan Bridges with incredible views of the Lower Manhattan Skyline. There is even a beautiful, antique Carousel which was built in 1922. Plenty of places to eat, if you’re still hungry, and take a break because next up… Walking over the Brooklyn Bridge! China Town… Washington Square Park… Strand Bookstore… and more awaits! Nibble along the way, if you choose, then we’ll have dinner (not incl.) near Union Square, before taking the subway back to Brooklyn.
Day Four (10th)
Sunday Morning… and Brunch on me today! Then another full day! Heading to Chelsea, on the west side of Manhattan. The L-Train will take us to 8th Avenue, then a short walk to the Chelsea Market, once the Nabisco Factory. This area has long been the locus of food in the city, with trading of game and crops, and the trains of the High Line once serving the wholesale butchers who lined the streets beneath the tracks. We’ll walk the stretch of the High Line to the Hudson Yards, tour the Vessel, and then eat at Mercado Little Spain! Tonight… Sleep No More at the McKittrick Hotel! I have no words to accurately describe this experience. Wear comfortable clothes and shoes, this immersive performance takes you up and down flights of stairs all evening. They ask that all guests wear a mask for the duration of the event, and it’s best to experience this solo, separating from your group. My daughter (16) and I recently did this recently, it’s truly an “only in NYC” experience!
Day Five (11th)
Time to say goodbye. Check out is at 11am. Plenty of time to grab a nosh, or fresh juice across the street at The Butcher’s Daughter, a favorite for vegan goodness! I’m here to assist you with getting to the airport for your departure! Ciao!
Itinerary subject to change.
Trip Notes:
Meals: This trip has many opportunities for New York food experiences. They do not cater to varying food aversions. The base price includes a walking, food tour of south Williamsburg, with stops for NY style pizza, meatballs, and other traditional Italian food specialties. There is not a discount if you’re unable to eat the food provided on the tour. This being said, the remainder of the trip there are amble opportunities to personalize your food choices. Also to note, our hotel is sandwiched between two popular restaurants that cater to GF, & Vegan needs… by CHLOE, and The Butcher’s Daughter. What meals are included? Welcome Night dinner, and Champagne toast, progressive lunch during the food tour on Friday, and Sunday Brunch. There are other food stops on the trip paid by you.
Walking: Ladies, there will be a lot of walking, please bring comfy shoes!
Sleep No More: This experience requires that you are capable of walking up and down many flights of stairs, often quickly. The audience is asked not to speak, and to wear a mask for the duration of the event, 2-3 hours. It’s immersive, best experienced individually, and without expectation. This is a premiere experience and a highlight of the trip! Truly unique to NYC. It begins at the Mandalay Bar, set in the 1920’s, offering cocktails from the era. You are able to return to the bar at any time during Sleep No More, if you need a break.
Transfers from/to the Airport: I opted to not include the transfers to keep the base price down for everyone. There are three airports to choose to fly in/out of, Newark, JFK, and LaGuardia. LaGuardia is the closest to our hotel, but any of them are easy to navigate using trains, and subways. LaGuardia is best by Uber. I’m here to help you with step-by-step instructions on how to navigate to our hotel. You can do this!
